A crazed United Airlines passenger has been arrested after allegedly attacking a flight attendant and trying to storm the cockpit as the plane landed at Newark Liberty International Airport.
United Flight 1837 had just arrived from the Dominican Republic at around 6 p.m. Saturday when the pilot was forced to declare an emergency on board.
Wild audio of the conversation between air traffic control and one of the crew members captures the chaotic scenes on arrival at the New Jersey hub.
“We’re declaring an emergency, seems like someone just attacked one of our flight attendants,” the crew member tells air traffic controllers.

Police detained a 48-year-old passenger at the gate and took him to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, Newark Airport’s operator The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey told The post.
Some 170 passengers and six crew members were on board the Boeing 737 at the time.
The injured crew member refused medical attention and no other injuries were reported.
“At about 6:03 p.m. Saturday evening, Port Authority Police received a report of an altercation on United Airlines flight 1837 as it arrived at Newark Liberty Terminal B,” the Port Authority said.
“When the plane arrived at the gate, police detained a 48-year-old male without incident who was taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation. One individual on the plane refused medical attention; no other injuries were reported.”
Reached by The Post Sunday, United Airlines confirmed the chain of events, and that local cops met the plane on arrival to deal with the “unruly” passenger.
“We’re grateful to our crew for their efforts to ensure the safety of fellow crew members and our passengers.”
The man’s identity has not yet been confirmed by law enforcement.
