Rabbit is not rich.
A Michigan book collector claims he got a paltry payday when a Manhattan dealer sold off his extensive collection of John Updike books and manuscripts and kept the profits.
Alexander Jemal Jr. says he had a deal with Darren Overty, of Manhattan’s Clouds Hill Books, to sell a collection that Updike himself described as “outstanding,” for a 20 percent commission. He claims he received a mere $6,412 and wants unspecified damages. Overty did not return messages seeking comment.
