An elevator at the 72nd St. subway station stopped mid-ride Friday morning, trapping 17 people inside for about an hour, officials said.
The elevator was delivering commuters down to the Second Ave. Q train at about 8:50 a.m. when the lift stopped suddenly.
“We’ve been stuck in this elevator for almost 40 minutes. It’s getting unbearably hot in here and people are beginning to lose their cool,” said Twitter user @allmanbrosfan, who posted a video showing the stranded riders.
The fire department was able to rescue the trapped people after about an hour, when first responders removed the elevator to street level, officials said.
There were no injuries reported.
