POUGHKEEPSIE — A Poughkeepsie official was absent from his $160,000-a-year job for more than four months during a 19-month period in which he spent much of his time at his Finger Lakes home, according to a published report.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Michael Long, Poughkeepsie’s former chief administrative officer, wasn’t available to perform his duties for 133 out of 578 days between Jan. 1, 2011, and July 31, 2012. Thirty-seven of those absences were vacation days. Long told the newspaper he was reachable by phone and e-mail when he was away.
