The brother of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez was convicted of drug-trafficking Friday.

A Manhattan federal jury deliberated for less than a day before finding Juan Antonio “Tony” Hernandez guilty of all counts, including drug conspiracy, weapons possession and lying to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The verdict followed a two-week trial in which prosecutors said the president’s sibling ran a massive “state-sanctioned” drug trade, bribing politicians for protection to move around 200,000 kilos (220 tons) of cocaine through the country and into the US.

One cooperating witness even detailed an event in which convicted Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman passed Hernandez a $1 million bribe, which was intended for his brother’s then-presidential campaign.

The now-president has staunchly denied any wrongdoing and said the claims are 100 percent false.
