A straphanger went off the rails in the Times Square station and caused thousands of dollars in damage by smashing ad screens at the subway stop, cops said Thursday.

The unhinged vandal pulled a brick from his backpack and smashed 10 advertising screens in the stop at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue just after 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

Authorities put the damage at about $30,000.

The NYPD released a short video Thursday of the suspect in the station.

The MTA derided that incident on Thursday night.

“Senseless vandalism like this deprives subway riders of valuable service information and hurts the MTA’s ability to generate valuable ad revenue,” a spokesman said in a statement.
