Thieves destroyed a statue of former Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle in California last week in an attempt to steal the bronze and copper it’s made of, authorities say.

The 8-foot-tall memorial — worth about $100,000 — was built in West Covina in honor of Lidle, a former resident who died in 2006 when his plane crashed into an East Side high-rise.

Police say the screwballs drilled into the monument and sent it toppling to the ground.

They couldn’t steal the statue but did take three metal plaques, valued at about $7,000.
