A Verizon worker saved a man trapped in a burning Brooklyn basement yesterday, neighbors said.

A resident and a man working on his boiler were in the basement on East Eighth Street when flames broke out, burning both.

Suddenly, neighbor Vito Bucaria said, the Verizon worker dashed across the street, kicked in a window and rescued one of the men. He then vanished before anyone could thank him.
