A veteran East Harlem state assemblyman has quietly set up a campaign committee to run for city comptroller.
Democrat Robert Rodriguez registered the committee with the state Board of Elections on Monday, five months after The Post reported that he was mulling a citywide run.
Rodriguez, an assemblyman since 2010, did not return calls seeking comment.
It’s unclear whether he’ll definitely run or is laying the groundwork in case there’s an opening.
The current comptroller, Scott Stringer, is considering challenging Mayor de Blasio in a Democratic primary next year.
