A group of city veterinarians saved a Bronx red-tailed hawk from one awful case of indigestion.

The ailing avian was found on Webster Avenue and taken to the The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan by the NYPD. It was suffering from the effects of some large animal bones that had gotten lodged in its stomach.

The bird had an injured foot, that kept it from hunting prey. So it turned to eating the bones, which made it sick, said Barbara Ross, a spokeswoman for the center.

The bird – who was named “Charlie” – was given an endoscopy procedure that cleared it’s stomach and had it foot fixed and is expected to soon recover.

“It’s doing very well,” Ross said.
