A Queens jury took just 19 minutes to convict a rapist linked to his victims by DNA collected under a law that one of those victims helped put on the books.
Richard Thomas, 43, was found guilty in the 1996 rapes of a 12-year-old girl in Bayswater and a woman in Jamaica.
The woman, Carol Dickerson, later lobbied lawmakers to expand the state’s criminal DNA database. Her efforts helped expand the law and led to Thomas’ giving a DNA sample after a 2006 grand-larceny conviction.
He now faces up to 75 years in prison when sentenced on Nov. 17.
