Video footage captured a Bronx family’s escape from their 17th-floor apartment during Sunday’s deadly blaze at the high-rise.
Yesbely Fernandez shot the footage inside 333 E. 181st St. as she and her family evacuated the doomed building, with firefighters seen arriving at the scene, tweeted a WCBS 880 reporter.
Footage shows the family’s blackened hallway with firefighters in the background outside their apartment.
“Evacuation down 17 flights of stairs in Sunday’s deadly Bronx fire,” WCBS reporter Marla Diamond wrote.
Fernandez’s family — including a young boy — is seen in another video making their way down a stairwell past fire hoses and firefighters, with puddles littering the stairs at several spots.
A third video provides an aerial view of the scene showing the commotion far below as firefighters and FDNY trucks surround the building.
Authorities said the fire erupted shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday and have blamed a space heater in apartment 3N for sparking the blaze — with sources reporting Tuesday that at least one heater was running for several days.
