A man slapped a female MTA employee in the face inside a Bronx subway station on New Year’s Eve, new video shows.
The employee had asked the suspect to stop urinating and smoking on the platform of the Hunts Point Avenue 6 train station around 10 a.m. that day, authorities said.
That angered the suspect, who was captured on surveillance video a short time later slapping the worker on the side of the face as he passed through the turnstile to exit the station.
The man suspected of slapping an MTA employee in the face. DCPIThe victim is shown trying to strike back in self-defense and chase after the suspect, but he took off.
The worker was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for pain in her face.
“This assault on a hero of the pandemic is outrageous,” MTA spokesman Tim Minton said in a statement. “Enough is enough with such senseless attacks on transit workers just trying to do their jobs, and we continue to call upon the city to increase mental health services and NYPD presence in the transit system.”
