Hints of summer are on the horizon.

Memorial Day weekend, which got off to a soggy start Saturday, will turn dry Sunday with mostly sunny skies in the afternoon and a high of 67. It will get warmer as the week goes on with temperatures moving into the 70s on Memorial Day on Monday.

By Tuesday, the thermometer will reach the 80s and remain there for the rest of the week. The high temperature will hit 83 Wednesday and 80 on Thursday.

“It’s finally starting to feel like summer around here,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki.

The normal high in Central Park for this time of year is 73, Ciemnecki said.

The balmier air is thanks to a high pressure system dominating the region and winds turning more southerly, Ciemnecki said.
