A 48-year-old man was shot dead while he sat in the driver’s seat of a car in Washington Heights Wednesday afternoon, police said.

A gunman opened fire in broad daylight just before 1:45 p.m., hitting the man at least four times as he sat behind the wheel of a car near the intersection of West 185th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, according to authorities.

The perp is still on the loose, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released by police pending notification of his family, was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said.

A gun was recovered at the scene, sources said.
