A former high-ranking West­chester prosecutor announced his candidacy for county district attorney on Thursday.

Republican Bruce Bendish, a defense lawyer and ex-DA Homicide Bureau chief, is expected to face ex-Nassau prosecutor Mitch Benson in a GOP primary, to try to succeed Janet DiFiore, now the state’s chief judge.
