A man calling himself “Dr. Hunter” recruited young men for a fake intelligence agency — and then “trained” them by whipping them and placing needles under their fingernails, a prosecutor said yesterday in White Plains.
Lawrence Bottone, of Stamford, Conn., indicted on 29 charges, could get 5 to 25 years in prison if found guilty, said Westchester DA Janet DiFiore.
Fifteen years ago he spent four years in prison on child-porn and assault charges after being videotaped whipping and torturing teen boys.
Bottone, 52, was a teacher and coach in Norwalk, Conn., and founder of a community program for kids.
He allegedly recruited his victims in the Palisades Mall in West Nyack and other public areas, then stripped, blindfolded and tortured them — to prepare them in case of capture and interrogation.
One told Westchester County cops, who found in Bottone’s car a “training kit” — needles, rope, strapping tape and vegetable oil, the DA said.
