ALBANY — Continuing scandals in Albany haven’t stopped the flow of big money to lobbyists, who reported they raked in $226 million last year.
The Joint Commission on Public Ethics on Wednesday released the figures showing that bitter battles over proposed changes to education policies resulted in a gusher of spending.
Families for Excellent Schools, a pro-charter group, said it shelled out $9.6 million, while the most vocal opponent of charter schools, the New York State United Teachers union, spent $3.2 million.
