It took 4 1/2 years, but Mayor Bloomberg finally got to break ground yesterday on the first stage of the lawsuit-plagued Willets Point project in Queens.

The ceremony marked the start of $50 million in improvements to connect the 62-acre site to the city’s sanitary and sewage systems in 2013.
