An Austrian tourist was discovered dead on the outer roadway of the Williamsburg Bridge early Tuesday, authorities said.

Police were called to the bridge shortly after 6 a.m. and discovered the 31-year-old victim lying in the bridge’s outer lane.

The road was closed as police investigate the incident.

It was not immediately clear whether the man was walking along the span and may have been struck by a vehicle.

Police also believe it’s possible he may have fallen or jumped from the walkway onto one of the lanes.
