The quest to repurpose a defunct Brooklyn firehouse into a new civic and performance engine for the community took a rockin’ turn when a triumvirate of bands ignited the stage during a “Raise the Roof” benefit concert in Williamsburg.

Double Grammy Award winners “They Might Be Giants” joined indie pop band “Nada Surf” and indie rockers “The Wrens” at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66th North 6th Street, for a musical showcase to fund the Northside Town Hall Community and Cultural Center at the old Engine Company 212 firehouse, 136 Wythe Street.
