Strong winds spread flames through four Fire Island homes early Friday morning, officials said.

No one was seriously injured in the 1 a.m. blaze, according to a representative of the Fire Island Pines Fire District.

Firefighters worked for five hours to control the inferno, with support from fire stations around southern Long Island. A few firefighters are being treated for minor injuries.

The houses were occupied at the time of the fire and the residents are staying with neighbors, according to the fire district spokesman.

“We’re lucky it wasn’t worse,” he said.
