Gov. Cuomo has a message for movie buffs: Cheers!
The governor’s new budget plan calls for legalizing the sale of wine and beer at New York’s movie theaters.
Currently, only movie houses with installed kitchens are allowed to serve soft liquor.
His proposal would extend the right to all theaters.
The plan would authorize the State Liquor Authority to issue alcohol licenses to movie emporiums.
Cuomo said he also wants to “incentivize” theaters to sell wine and beer produced in the Empire State.
Asked if plans were afoot to also allow hard liquor, Cuomo said, “Let’s not go too far.”
