Wiseguy goes to pot: feds
A Gambino crime-family wiseguy once wounded in a revenge hit was charged yesterday in Brooklyn federal court with marijuana distribution, as the feds took down a Staten Island ring, officials said.
Joseph “Joe Boy” Sclafani ran a syndicate that sold pot grown in hydroponic greenhouses in New Dorp, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
He was wounded in the 1989 mob rub-out of Costabile “Gus” Farace, a suspect in the murder of a DEA agent. Sclafani was later convicted of helping Farace evade a federal manhunt.
