Investigators hit a snag in their case against the alleged killer of an imam and his aide when a witness failed to identify the suspect in a lineup — and picked someone else, prosecutors revealed in court Thursday.

Queens ADA Peter McCormack said Oscar Morel, 35, of East New York, was not picked out of the police line Monday night.

Morel’s new lawyer Michael J. Schwed said the setback shows that the state has no case. “As far as he’s concerned, he didn’t commit anything,” Schwed said.

Meanwhile, members of the Islamic Leadership Council gathered outside City Hall to thank the NYPD for arresting Morel in the Saturday slaying of Imam Mulama Aknojee, 55, and Thara Uddin, 64, as the pair walked home from their Ozone Park mosque.

But Momin Ahmed, the imam’s son-in-law, said supporters still “want to know what’s the reason for it and we want justice for it.”
