A 32-year-old woman was stabbed in an unprovoked attack as she took out the trash in East Harlem Tuesday night, authorities and police sources said.

The male assailant, an apparent stranger, approached the victim outside a laundromat on Lexington Avenue near East 102nd Street around 8:15 p.m. and suddenly jabbed her in the right shoulder with an “unknown object,” police said. 

Police do not believe he said anything during the assault.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. 

The suspect fled and had not been arrested by Wednesday morning.
