A woman was killed and an 8-year-old girl was hurt in an early Monday house fire in Brooklyn, authorities said.
The blaze erupted in the rear of the two-story home on East 92nd Street near Clarkson Avenue in Brownsville around 2 a.m., officials said.
Janice Ross, 67, and her young relative were found inside the home suffering from smoke inhalation, police said.
Authorities did not say what their exact relationship was.

The blaze erupted around 2 a.m. and was under control in just over a half-hour. Robert MeceaBoth were taken to the Kings County Hospital Center, where Ross died and the girl was in stable condition.
A dozen FDNY units, including 60 firefighters and EMS workers, responded to the scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by fire marshals.
The deadly fire comes hours after a 1-year-old boy was killed in another house fire on 106th Avenue in Jamaica, Queens.
