The Bronx woman arrested last month for allegedly slitting the throat of a nine months’ pregnant woman, carving the live baby out of her womb and then claiming the child as her own, was held without bail at her arraignment Friday, officials said.
Ashleigh Wade, 22, murdered her friend Angelikque Sutton inside Wade’s Monticello Avenue apartment on Nov. 20. She was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
The proceeding took place in Queens Criminal Court and was watched by the suspect on a video monitor in her room at Elmhurst Hospital, where she has been undergoiing psychiatric evaluation.
She pleaded not guilty, according to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.
