A Queens woman was left brain dead after a boozed-up, unlicensed driver slammed their car into a truck on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, police said.
Allegedly drunken driver John Gilette, 37, of Queens, smashed his 1998 Jeep Wrangler into a truck carrying vehicles near the Maurice Avenue exit, near the 5:10 a.m., cops said.
The 36-year-old injured woman, one of five people in the Wrangler, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she was prounounced brain dead. Gilette and three other passengers were also hurt and taken to Elmhurst and New York Hospital in Queens.
Gilette is charged with second-degree aggravated vehicular assault, DWI, aggravated unlicensed operator and driving without a license.
The driver of the truck was not hurt.
