A woman died after being hit by a 3 express train at 96 St station on Saturday afternoon.

Police say they believe the woman, who is currently unidentified, killed herself by jumping in front of the train.

A fellow straphanger standing just a few feet north of the woman as the subway pulled into the platform saw her moments before she died.

“She was just standing by the edge, in the yellow zone. I turned my head to watch the train as it was coming into the station. Then I heard the screams. She either jumped or fell,” he recalled, his eyes full of tears.

A passenger on board the fatal 3 train said they felt the driver slam on the emergency brakes. “When I got off I saw blood all over and the head didn’t look attached to the body. It was really gruesome,” they said.
