A Brooklyn woman who was set on fire and beaten with a hammer by her boyfriend in June has died of her injuries, police said Monday.
Alicia Avery was attacked by 26-year-old Larry McGloster inside his mother’s apartment in the Frederick Douglass Houses on Columbus Avenue on June 12, cops said.
McGloster bashed Avery with a hammer, causing “bleeding gashes” to her head, skull fractures and damaged teeth, according to court documents.
He then doused her with an accelerant and set her on fire, police said.
Avery stumbled into the hallway and cried for help, according to prosecutors. She was rushed to Harlem Hospital with burns on 90 percent of her body, authorities said.
Avery died Sept. 6 from the injuries she suffered in the attack, cops said Monday.
McGloster was originally charged with attempted murder, assault, arson and criminal possession of a weapon, but the NYPD is now investigating the case as a homicide.
