Never underestimate the power of maternal instinct.
A crazed creep tried to snatch a 10-month-old girl from a stroller on a Queens street — but was run off by the tot’s ferocious mom, who began hitting him and screaming at the top of her lungs.
“Help!” Blanca Aucanshala shouted as the stranger reached for her daughter, Kayla, on a Corona sidewalk last week.
“Give me the baby!” the would-be kidnapper screamed repeatedly as they wrestled for the infant, police said.
Police were still looking for the deranged man Saturday night, and have released surveillance footage showing him shortly after the attack.
Investigators believe he was drunk at the time.
When she first saw him, he was “peeing by the side of a vehicle,” Aucanshala said Saturday.
“The guy looked like he was drunk or was on drugs, and he attacked me from the back and grabbed my waist” as she pushed Kayla’s stroller at 43rd Avenue and 111th Street.
The 28-year-old nail salon worker had just picked the girl up from her babysitter.
“I told him, ‘What do you want? My phone? Money? OK, I’ll give it to you.’ But he immediately went straight for my daughter.”
With all her might, she struck him and screamed.
“I have never seen this guy before. I didn’t know what to do, I was shocked, I was scared — never in my life has this happened to me,” she said.
“My daughter was crying. The only thing I could do was try to break free of him and scream for help.
“This has scared me so much that it’s affecting me psychologically. I don’t even want to walk outside anymore.”
Images released by police show the attacker dining at a nearby Roosevelt Avenue restaurant just after the incident.
He is described as in his 20s, approximately 5-foot-5, with brown eyes and black hair.
He was last seen wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, authorities said.
