A woman found dead in a Bronx trash can has been identified Tuesday, as cops revealed that the case is being probed as a homicide.
Becky Crown, 38, who lived in a single-room occupancy building called Rustin House on the Upper West Side, was found naked and dumped head-first into the bin on Park Avenue near East 182nd Street in Tremont around 8:30 a.m. April 20, according to cops and police sources.
Investigators who arrived at the scene canvassed the area and found video of a man pushing the woman to the alley in a shopping cart, police sources said at the time.
Cops could not say where Crown was killed.
Crown died of compressions to her neck and chest, the city medical examiner’s office said Tuesday.
Rodney Wade, 53, a fellow resident at the West 94th Street building — which provides services for low-income tenants — said that Crown, originally from Brooklyn, was in a homeless shelter before and had been living at Rustin House for four years.
She had a boyfriend who got banned from the building for staying overnight, Wade said.
“He loved the hell out of her, Wade said. “He loved her a lot. He kept showing up wanting to get back together.”
