A woman is in critical condition after she fell onto the tracks and was burned by the electrified third rail at the 2/5 Gun Hill Road station in the Bronx this morning, officials said.
Another woman who was on the platform was also injured when she tried to help the woman. The incident happened at 10:44 am.
A gruesome video shows the woman lying motionless while wedged against the third rail.
The woman, 47, was in cardiac arrest when emergency personnel pulled her from the roadbed. They took her to Montefiore Medical Center. The woman has a heart condition, but it is not clear whether she was already having a heart attack when she fell in the tracks, said officials.
The second woman, 46, was less seriously injured and was also taken to Montefiore, sources said.
