A 71-year-old woman was killed by a stray bullet in a Bronx shooting that also wounded another innocent bystander Thursday, cops and sources said — with surveillance video capturing the moment one of the victims was struck down on the street.
The shocking footage, obtained by The Post, shows a person who appears to be the older of the two victims falling to the ground at a crosswalk in Mott Haven, and two people running away in different directions seconds later.
Police said two men were arguing on East 138th Street near Brook Avenue just after 12:30 p.m., when one of them opened fire as his target fled, spraying bullets in the commercial area.
“Those bullets struck two innocent people standing out on the street,” said NYPD Assistant Chief Benjamin Gurley at a news briefing Thursday night.
The septuagenarian was shot in the back, and the other victim, a 34-year-old woman, was hit in the arm, police said.
Both were taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where the older woman was pronounced dead, and the younger victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
A 71-year-old woman was struck and killed by a stray bullet in a broad-daylight Bronx shooting that also left a younger woman injured, cops and sources said. Peter GerberThe gunman ran off, heading west on East 138th Street, police said.
Cops described the suspect as a man with dark skin and dreadlocks, wearing all black, authorities said.
The senseless violence was one of three shootings this week that left a total of four innocent bystanders with gunshot wounds – including an 8-year-old boy who was struck by a stray bullet just after he got off his school bus Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Investigators believe the shootings could be tied to gang activity, said Gurley, the commanding officer for Patrol Borough Bronx.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said the woman killed Thursday was a senior in the community who was just “standing there minding her own business.”
“This has got to stop … Enough is enough,” Clark told reporters.
“This is happening in broad-daylight,” she continued, as authorities pleaded with witnesses to come forward.
“We cannot allow this to continue to happen.”
More cops will flood the troubled area in the coming days, Gurley said.
