A woman was killed and her husband seriously injured when a volunteer firefighter on his way to a call slammed into them on Long Island early Saturday, cops said.
Julia M. Morales, 57, of Lindenhurst, and her 60-year-old husband, left the Half Moon Bar and Grill in Long Beach and were walking across E. Park Avenue around 12:30 a.m. when the car struck them, Nassau County police said.
Morales was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband, suffering from multiple fractures, a broken spine and a lacerated kidney — was in critical but stable condition.
The 22-year-old volunteer had been driving with his blue flashing lights on. He remained at the scene.
Neither Morales’ husband nor the Buick driver was immediately identified.
