A woman was rescued today from a Manhattan subway track after she was clipped by a train, officials said.
The unidentified woman’s right arm and left hand were partially severed when a southbound train barreled into the station moments after she landed on the tracks shortly before 11:30 am, according to police.
She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
The near-fatal incident at Houston Street and Second Avenue stopped all F train service between Essex Street and Continental for nearly an hour until it was restored at about 12:30 pm.
Officials were not sure if the woman fell from the platform or jumped, but said that early indications pointed to a suicide attempt. Passengers said they saw the woman jump as the train approached.
“She looked like she was in shock,” said a witness who watched as rescuers pulled the woman from under the train. “She was totally covered in blood.”
