A Brooklyn woman who fractured her spine in the Amtrak crash last month is suing the railway operator for $25 million in a Brooklyn federal court negligence suit.

Eight people were killed and more than 200 injured on May 12 when the speeding northbound train traveling from Washington to New York overturned after hitting a curve.

The train’s conductor, Brandon Bostian of Queens, was going more than 100 miles an hour — twice the safe limit — before the accident, investigators found.

Tiffany Nixon is suing Amtrak for negligence, arguing that the operator failed to safeguard against the accident.

“As a result of the aforesaid derailment, Plaintiff sustained severe personal injuries including … a severe spinal fracture,” the suit states. “Plaintiff has been required to undergo extensive medical treatment and will continue to require such medical treatment.”

“Had the train been operated at the authorized speed it would not have derailed,” the suit states.

A slew of similar cases against Amtrak have already been filed in several jurisdictions and more are expected.
