SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Heavy equipment will converge on a New Jersey river Friday as workers seek to remove debris left by Tropical Storm Irene last summer.

The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission believes fallen trees have accumulated with other debris to form blockages in the Saddle River at Riverside Cemetery in Saddle Brook.

Flooding caused by Irene deposited the debris in the river’s channel.

The agency will deploy an excavator, backhoe, wood chipper and chainsaws to help clear out the debris.
