A burglary suspect caused bedlam on the Verrazano Bridge Monday when he pulled a U-turn after being spotted by cops and drove straight into oncoming traffic, injuring two NYPD officers, sources said.
When Port Authority police tried to pull the driver over after he struck a vehicle in the Staten Island-bound lanes of the upper roadway at about 5 p.m., he turned around and fled, law-enforcement sources said. While driving toward Brooklyn in the wrong lanes, his van collided with an unmarked police car, the sources said.
One sergeant and another cop were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver was arrested.
