A wrong-way driver was killed on the Long Island Expressway early yesterday after he smashed head on into another vehicle, authorities said.

A man and a woman in a 2008 Honda Civic were going eastbound in the westbound lanes of the expressway in Jericho at roughly 4:15 a.m. when they slammed into a 2012 Mercedes-Benz, said Nassau County cops.

The 23-year-old man driving the Honda was declared dead at the scene. His passenger, 24, suffered internal injuries and remains in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center.

The woman had to be cut from the Honda after it bounced off the median following impact, cops said.

The driver of the Mercedes, 49, is in stable condition at an undisclosed local hospital, cops added.
