A recording label is pitting two rappers from the on-again-off-again group Wu-Tang Clan against each other, claiming the has-been member known as U-God is trying to piggyback off the success of its exclusive artist GZA.

Manhattan-based label Babygrande Records has an exclusive recording agreement with GZA, a k a Gary Grice, the oldest member of the Staten Island-bred Wu-Tang Clan, who is also known as “The Genius.”

Babygrande, which has a history of legal beefs with U-God, or Lamont Hawkins, claims the lesser-known rapper’s manager leaked a single and video featuring GZA without permission. The label wants $75,000 in compensation.

But U-God’s manager, Domingo Neris, noted that the band is on its 20th-anniversary world tour and said that GZA “had no problem” with lending his voice and name to the single “Heads Up.”
