Move over, cocaine and heroin. Xanax is quickly becoming junkies’ new drug of choice in New York.

The number of emergency-room visits involving overdoses on Xanax and similar anti-anxiety pills jumped 59 percent from 2004 to 2009, the latest period for which data is available, according to the Health Department.
