An Iowa gym teacher was so drunk on the job Monday that administrators called the cops on her, police said.

Erin Ellerbach, a 38-year-old gym teacher at Jefferson Middle School in Dubuque, was charged with public intoxication yesterday.

An officer who questioned Ellerbach at the school said she smelled of alcohol and had red, watery eyes and slurred speech, KCRG reported. Ellerbach took a breath test and blew a blood alcohol content of .224, which is almost three times the legal limit to drive.

When school officials searched Ellerbach’s office, they found an open 16-ounce can of Mike’s Harder Strawberry Lemonade and two more unopened cans, CBS2 reported.

Ellerbach is no longer an employee of the school, a district spokesperson told KDTH.
