Another cat has proven its mettle in the aftermath of the devastating quake that struck Italy – surviving an incredible 32 days buried under the rubble.
Rocco became the latest “miracle pet” to be reunited with its owners in the ravaged town of Amatrice, The Local reported.
Fire officials shared the news on Twitter, announcing, “Padroni felici” — or “Happy owners.” The plucky gray-and-white cat is seen huddled with its owner.
Rocco is the latest cat to survive the harrowing experience by drinking rainwater.
Pietro was saved after 16 days and Gioia – Italian for “joy” – survived five days in the ruins before being rescued.
And a golden retriever named Romeo was rescued nine days after the earthquake, which killed almost 300 people and left about 2,500 homeless.
Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Renzi promised to rebuild the damaged towns “so they are as beautiful, more beautiful than before.”
The quake, which had a magnitude of 6.0 to 6.2, devastated villages in the Lazio, Marches, Umbria and Abruzzo regions – causing at least $4.48 billion worth of damage, Renzi said.
