Police in Ohio are investigating the homicide of a missing 18-year-old girl whose body was found in a wooded area three weeks after she vanished, officials said.

The body of Samantha Guthrie was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head Saturday around midnight in a wooded area of New Franklin, The Repository reported.

Guthrie’s mother reported her missing Nov. 5 after the teen disappeared a day earlier from a home in Akron.

“We are forever grateful for all the love and support through this devastating time,” a Facebook page dedicated to finding Guthrie posted. “Family can finally start the grieving process and make plans for her memorial.”

Authorities arrested 39-year-old Danny Hamby and 31-year-old Toni Kenney in connection to her disappearance.

The pair was believed to have been with Guthrie at the house where she was last seen, the Akron Beacon Journal reported. Police didn’t disclose the nature of Guthrie’s relationship with the suspects.

Following the discovery of Guthrie’s body, officials said they plan to file murder charges against Hamby and Kenney, who are being held in Summit County Jail, news station WEWS reported.
