A Mississippi school bus driver suffered a heart attack this week behind the wheel, leading to a roll-over crash that injured eight children, according to reports.

Benton County Schools driver William “Chester” Cole died Tuesday after he experienced a heart attack on Highway 72 and drove off the road, news station WREG reported.

The 63-year-old, who had driven for the district for five years, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Eight kids were injured in the accident, including Cole’s granddaughter, who saw him clutch his chest before the crash, news station WMC reported.

Four of the children were airlifted from the scene in serious condition, Fox13 reported.

Benton County Schools Superintendent Steve Bostick praised Cole as a reliable driver for the district.

“Chester has been driving for about five years now, and he’s one of the most dependable drivers we have in the district,” Bostick told WMC.
