A Missouri woman gave birth in the bathroom of the meat packing plant where she worked — and let the boy drown in a toilet, authorities said.

Makuya Stephanie Kambamba, 28, was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the newborn’s May 6 death at the Smithfield Foods plant in Milan, according to court documents obtained by KTVO.

Kambamba, of Kirksville, allowed the boy to drown in a toilet after giving birth in a restroom at the facility, investigators said.

The baby moved as he was face-down in a toilet, Kambamba told investigators.

She then sat back down on the toilet due to pain from contractions and didn’t check on her newborn son again until about 30 minutes later — when a Smithfield nurse walked into the restroom, court documents show.

An autopsy performed on the boy found evidence consistent with drowning, authorities said.

Kambamba is also facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony abuse or neglect of a child in the boy’s death, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

Kambamba was taken into custody at the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail, where she’s being held without bond, jail records show. It’s unclear if she’s hired an attorney.
