Police have named a 29-year-old graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a Yale University student last weekend.

Qinxuan Pan, who was last seen at a hotel in North Haven, Connecticut is being sought for questioning in the death of 26-year-old Kevin Jiang.

Pan “is not a suspect at this time,” New Haven police chief Otoniel Reyes said at a Wednesday press conference.

But, Reyes said that Pan should be considered armed and dangerous.

Jiang, a graduate student enrolled in Yale’s School of the Environment, was shot dead late Saturday on a street in New Haven’s East Rock section.

Police on Monday said Jiang may have been targeted in a road rage incident.

Jiang, a Seattle native, had recently gotten engaged to be married.

He began studying at Yale after two years in environmental consulting. He was also an Army veteran – serving a tank operator and a chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear officer — and an Army National Guard member.
