Authorities in Pennsylvania have uncovered the remains believed to be two young sisters who haven’t been seen in six years — and their mom has been arrested in connection to their deaths.
Jasman and Nicole Snyder’s suspected remains were discovered over the weekend in rural Hepburn Township, about four miles north of Williamsport, Penn Live reported.
The discovery was made near a mobile home where their mother Mary Sue Snyder has been living with her girlfriend, Echo Butler, 26, and Snyder’s 7-year-old son Jesse.
Child services began an investigation in September after a medical provider alerted them that Jesse was not in school and barely knew numbers and letters.
During the investigation, questions were raised about Jasman and Nicole, who now would be 8 and 11, respectively, the outlet reported.
Butler’s mother, Michelle, said that she hadn’t seen the girls in six years.

But neither she nor Butler would provide the name of the friend supposedly caring for them, officials said.
Snyder was arrested Friday on charges of endangering the welfare of children and obstruction in child abuse cases.

No cause of death has been released in the case, but authorities are investigating it as a homicide.
